Steve Piper, a Phoenix AZ native, began is musical journey at age 7, playing the snare drum in the school orchestra. At age 12, he picked up the guitar and played and sang in several cover bands after moving to New York City in 1974.
Having moved back to Arizona in 1982, Steve took a break from his music career to raise a family, but in the early 90’s, he heard the calling and began playing, recording and producing original music in the Phoenix area.
Having graduated from the Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences in 1999, Steve began working at 4th Street Recording in Santa Monica assisting Record Producer Jim Wirt (Incubus, Hoobastank, Something Corporate) as Pro Tools engineer, gained several major record label credits, and eventually became manager of the studio.
Back in Phoenix, Steve now runs a home-based Pro Tools recording studio and occasionally runs sound systems at live events, which is how he became involved with Dream Chemistry. When Jimmy Caterine decided that Dream Chemistry needed a 2nd guitarist, Steve was given the opportunity, and the rest, as they say, is history.
